Vagrant is open source software that allows you to maintain virtual software dev environments. CentOS is one of the operating systems you can create a ‘Vagrant Base Box’ with.

5 days ago, CentOS announced that they’ve released new images to be used with Vagrant. More specifically, the 6.9 and 7.4 versions of the distribution have been included in this release.

CentOS officially recommends trying this setup in a host running CentOS 7, and using Vagrant 1.9.4.

The images can be found here.

As usual, we recommend that when you download new OS images into a server, you perform a checksum comparison to verify the integrity of the file you’ve downloaded. You can simply run this command on the file you’ve downloaded to get the full hash use for comparison:

gpg –verify sha256sum.txt.asc
